Our first store in North American opened in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 2017. Santa Fe has a long history of Native American people calling it home, so their traditions and culture remain strong in the city even to this day.

I do not incorporate a changing theme or message that guides the development of each seasonal collection; however, I am always considering how to create something that is "light and beautiful". To me this means I want to create products that can be worn every day that have a presence and ability to create some contrast in our lives.

I have always liked and used vintage clothes and older things, but what attracts me the most to them is the "character" they exude which develops over a long period of time getting used after it is first made.

We opened a new store in Kobe. The "Kyukyoryuchi" (former foreign settlement) area located alongside the water south of Sannomiya is a lovely part of town where many pre-war buildings remain standing today. I had long thought it would be nice to open a store here someday, then this great property was brought to my attention.

Silk Denim

The Tango region in Northern Kyoto prefecture has a long history of being a production area of silk fabrics that spans approximately 1,300 years and it remains the largest producer in Japan even today. The area boasts a collection of weaving houses that produce traditional textiles such as the widely renowned Tango Chirimen. One of these irreplaceable workshops, "Sosaku Kobo Ito Asobi" continues to challenge themselves by trying to create their own unique fabrics that take advantage of techniques that have been cultivated since old times.

When it comes to creating products for WMV, a consistent theme is to put out clothes that I want to wear in my daily life, that are also able to provide joy for the person wearing them. However, in addition to that I place an emphasis on my own sensibilities.

Samuel and Stephen's Works

Subsequence is an experimental media project that discovers and disseminates topics related to crafts and culture from around the world through an alternative perspective. The work of London based photographer, Samuel Bradley and stylist Stephen Mann has been featured since the inaugural issue as a visvim WMV fashion editorial within the pages of the magazine, which acts as the primary medium for presenting content. For each feature, the only direction given from the editorial team is that the piece aligns with the magazine's theme for that edition. The repeat editorial feature overflows with the creativity of the pair and is simply a beautifully crafted story. We always prefer to have readers enjoy our content by viewing the impactful work in our large format print publication, however we have opted to introduce some of the content here for viewing.
